17 yr. old asking to live with her mother

My 17 yr. old daughter is living with her

father. He has custody. In Mass. She

wants to live with me. Has stated so, to

many professionals. What are her

rights?

Re: 17 yr. old asking to live with her mother

The courts have limited ability to stop the child over age 17. If there is a reason she should NOT live with you -- psychological issues or substance abuse, for example -- the courts could in theory forbid YOU from ALLOWING her to reside with you, or at least mandate that you work on such issues.
