Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

absent parent

My son got into some trouble and will be going to juvenile court soon. I heard that his biological father will be notified and have to appear in court also. He has not had contact with him for 9 years. Is this true that he will have to appear at court?

Re: absent parent

It is usually required that at least one parent be present during your son's proceedings. If you have any other questions, call me.

Re: absent parent

It is court procedure (when concerning a juvenile) to automatically notify the parents, if they possess the information. In any event, there needs to be atleast one parent/legal guardian present at the hearing(s).
