Adoption

If a father has legal custody of his child and is married. Does the step Mother have to adopt the child for any legal purposes?

Adoption requires the permission of both parents, or permission of the court.

The stepmother has no legal rights as to the husband's child. She can assume certain routine controls while the child is with her, and to the extent that her husband permits.
