Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

adult child of abandoned father: legal options?

Aside from child support, is it possible to sue an absent father for anything? I am considering graduate school and could use his help. I know he put his other daughter through law school. He lives in Indiana.

Thanks,

You don't have the right to sue your father for child support. Your mother has that right.

Typically, your father also has no obligation to support you through graduate school or pass the age of 23 here in Massachusetts.

Massachusetts law terminates the obligation of a parent after age 23 or one Bachelor's degree, whichever comes first. Your father's legal obligations are done.
