Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

At what age can a child in Massachusetts decide they do not want to visit the non-custodial parent? There is a visitation schedule in place with the courts.

Hello,

The family and probate court has jurisdiction over custody and parenting plans up until a child turns 18 years old. However once a child reaches 14, the Judge can take into account the child's desire to live and/or visit with each parent.

Although it is impossiblity for the custodial parent to force a teenager to visit with the non-custodial parent, a Judge would most certainly want to know that the custodial parent is doing everything they can to encourage the child to follow the parenting plan ordered through the court.
