answer to a complaint

what does file and docket accordingly mean? do i have to bring my ex husbands answer back to court before the court date?

File usually means the actual documents filed with the court.

Docket is the list/index of those documents that have been filed with the dates each was filed.

It is your ex husband's responsibilty to file with the court, with a copy to you, his answer to any complaint filed by you.

If you are proceeding without an attorney, it might be advisable for you to consider retaining one, especially if the complaint you have filed is a contempt complaint for child support arrears, as there is a statute that may entitle you to recover attorney's fees incurred in enforcing the support order.
