Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts
Right to appeal
I had a case on it's way to trial in juvinial court. The judge dismised the case. My attorny filed a notice of appeal. The clecks told him he could only appeal a judgement. Is'nt a dismissal a judjement?
This was a very important case and involved the safty of my child.
I find it hard to believe that I can not appeal???
You can appeal a trafffic ticket. Why not something of such importance.

Re: Right to appeal
You have a right to appeal any judgment entered against you, so long as you file a notice within the proper time. Whether you should file an appeal is always the question. If the law is firmly against you on the point in question, you may be wasting time and money. The usual appeal period is thirty days, but this may not be the case in all situations, and I have not researched that issue at all.
