appointing a legal guardian to minors

I would like to appoint a legal guardian for my kids in the event of my death. The children are american, can i appoint their non american uncle who lives in Dubai?

However, you may want to consider appointing a person more local.

You can appoint anyone you want regardless of citizenship, or any other criteria.

However, if you are divorced that may not be sufficient to have him get custody of the children.
