attorney's fees and lein

can my current attorney, for outstanding bills, put a lien on my home? what does this mean?

the home is in my ex's name and i have rights upon emanciaption of the children to less than half of a sale.

Yes.

You apparently have an unpaid bill. Your attorney can take steps to try to insure that the bill is paid.

It is hard to understand the interest that you have. Even though the house is in your ex's name, you have a right to proceeds from its sale or from its ownership. Your attorney, assuming the steps are done correctly, has a right to insure that your debt is paid.
