My Baby & DSS

last night i went to the hospital because ricco hurt me, i took the baby with me. i happened to have a seizure while i was there. the doctor called dss and filed a 51A . dss then came and took the baby. what am i suppose to do? i am going to court in the morning 2/18/03 9 am. they also stated if i find a family member or friend to place the baby with that they approve of that would be acceptable.

i have several q's but 1st off how long can they keep the baby without me seeing her?

what can i do immediately to amend this situation and how do i do it.

I probably have more questions than you do!

First, if you have a family member in the area who can be approved as a foster parent, you should do so. It may take a while for you to resolve the situation.

You should get a lawyer who does children's services cases as soon as possible.

I have to assume "ricco" is your boyfriend.

If you are living with a person who hurts you and you have a young child, and especially if you have seizures that are not controlled by medication, so that the child would have to be cared for by this guy who hurts you, then there is a good chance he will hurt the baby. He may already have done so, and the hospital personnel found evidence of it.

These are things you need to discuss with a lawyer.

Without more information, no one is going to be able to help you very much.
