Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

breech of marriage promise

I received a marriage proposal and given a engagement ring. This was the third proposal from this man that I accepted. He changed his mind and threaten to poison me if I did not leave his home. We had been together just under 6 years. I spent signifigant $$ redecorating his home, etc. I just found out he is legally married. Do I have recourse? This a very abusive man all documented. He has had a child removed from his home due to abuse.

Thank you

Assuming this is not a prelude to a Jerry Springer show... when dealing with a person who threatens to poison you, DO NOT GET MARRIED or continue to date/live with him no matter how many times he proposes or gives you an engagement ring. If you want to sue him for the value of the renovations to the home, that is another matter, but I recommend you use an attorney to do that unless you want to deal with him in court each time.

Leave and save your life. Recourse? Worry about recourse another day.
