Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Charges for domestic assault?

My daughter is 16 and her father

emotionally abuses her. It got so bad

that on Tuesday night, she left his

home during a blizzard, borrowed her

sister's coat and called the police on

her cell phone.

The police came to her on the road,

determined that she was not

physically harmed, that she is 16,

and brought her back to her father's

home.

How can this be? The man is a

sociopath and the police delivered her

into the hands of the abuser, who

''taught her a lesson'' because she

called for help

Re: Charges for domestic assault?

You can call the Department of Children and Families and/or the police if you are concerned that your daughter is being abused.

I'm not sure what your custody arrangement is, but is it possible for your daughter to live with you?

Re: Charges for domestic assault?

I would contact Child Services and report the father. Also, is there a reason your daughter cannot live with you. At 16 she has input into the parent who would have custody of her.

Good Luck.
