There is no such thing as an online divorce in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In addition, the forms to be used should be according to the court/county you are in (i.e. middlesex, essex, etc.).

First, you need to file a complaint for divorce (this begins the action), with a filing fee of approx. 195.00, plus 5.00 for the summons.

Second, you have it served by sheriff on your spouse or he can waive service (as you say it is amicable) and execute the summons that he has accepted service.

Third, he needs to answer the complaint and file it with the court.

Fourth and since it is amicable, you need a separation agreement that has all the proper language and addresses all issues that need to be addressed, such as alimony, health insurance, assets (pensions, property, etc.).

It would probably be a good idea, if you intend to go forward pro se, to have an attorney execute these documents for you. You will both need to execute financial statements (there is a short form and long form financial statement)

To receive some guidance ou could contact attorney referrals such as, Massachusetts Bar Association/Lawyers Referral, Boston Bar Association, Essex County Bar Association, Etc. They can all be found online.

Good luck! Sincerely, Maria Murber

You cannot get a divorce online. You can download forms and instructions, but these are usually not good enough to allow you to file them in MA courts and be sure you will not have problems.

Quick divorces are not cheap, because you have to go to Mexico or another country, or to Nevada, and stay long enough to qualify for a divorce. That divorce might not be legal if it is out of the US.

Every divorce in MA requires that the parties file financial statements.

For $400, I can prepare all the forms and documents you need for a "no-fault" divorce. You pay the filing fee to the court and represent yourselves. I will tell you what to expect and what to say in court. Your divorce hearing will be within 3 months, most likely, and you will then have a 4-month period before the divorce is final.
