How old does a child need to be to choose witch parent he or she would wish to live with as a custodial parent?

The child can make this decision at age 18. If the parents are in court litigating custody, the Judge must consult a child for the child's opinion if the child is 14 or older. However, the Judge does not have to do what the child wants. If the child is 13 or younger, the Judge may consult the child.
