Re: child support, alimony

Child support is based on the "Guidelines. Your ex-spouse-to-be determines that by earnings.

Alimony is a more complicated determination. It depends on the availability of income to pay, whether there is current child support, and need to obtain alimony. If your spouse earns $40,000.00 and pays one-third of that as child support, you might well get no current alimony. Your results will be very different if your ex-to-be is the local equivalent of Donald Trump.

You also need to consider being sure that your right to -future- alimony is kept open in any final divorce decree.

Please feel free to contact me for a free initial consultation. I also offer slifding scale rates, for which you would qualify if you are on limited income due to your disability.

child support, and alimony

The child support is based on the guidelines which you can find on the department of revenue web page.

The issue of alimony is more complex. I cannot answer it in the space provided.
