Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts
Child Support
My boyfriend and I have 18mo old twins. We have recently chosen to end this relationship after 12 years. He seems to feel like he is not obligated to help me support our children. Before i take this to court, my question is what does he owe me for (half of car, rent, food, etc.) and what doesn't he owe me for, being that we were never married but he is still their father?

Re: Child Support
Unless you can show you contributed money for something, he does not owe you for anything unless you are both on the title to the vehicle or other asset.
He is obligated to pay child support. MA is not a community property state. I suggest you contact an attorney for assistance.
Good Luck.
Re: Child Support
You are owed child support pursuant to the Guidelines. He does not owe you for moneys previously paid. If he continues to reside in the premises while you are working things out and separating, he certainly has to contribute to the household costs while there.
I would be happy to meet with you to give more specific advice, and offer sliding scale rates.
Re: Child Support
HE IS WRONG!
Since you were not married, his obligations is solely to the children.
If it has not been determined, your action is for paternity seeking support for the children. You should get a lawyer, and if you cannot afford one, contact the Department of Revnue, Child Support/Enforcement Division.
