Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Child Support

I am in bringing my-ex for Contempt for the 4th time this year(18th contempt!) His licence was previously suspended. He was arrested on a Capias 5 mons ago, back in court 3 mons ago, I filed again today!!

The Judge told him last time...I don't want to see you here again..you will go to jail.

What sentences can be served 4 this in Massachusetts? (18 Docket contempt's & almost $8,000. in arrears)

Re: Child Support

The maximum sentence for contempt of court is six months.

Given the history you recite, a criminal charge of non-support may be indicated. You can request an application at your local district court. There will be a clerk's hearing at which you can tell the facts. The criminal system has longer penalties and more stringent probation supervision.

Re: Child Support

It depends on the judge, but I have seen judges easily do 3 months on the first round, and possibly up to six months.
