Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

child support and custody

How do I make arrangements to lower my child support payments. My children are 12 and 4. I have always paid money to the biological mother directly, not to the children's bank accounts. What is the minimum I can pay by law and what rights do I have as an unmarried father. My children live with their biologicalmother and I see them most weekends but she often changes this and I do not see my children. Can I go to court and have the amount of child support established as well as visitation.

Child support and custody

You have an absolute right to have the child support established, and to have the court involved in determining you rights, including visits.

The child support is usually based on guidelines that take into account the incomes of the parties by a formula. This formula is available on the Department of Revenue website (DOR).

As with any action, there are risks and benefits. If you need assistance or have any questions, contact me.
