Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts
child support
When my g/f learned she was pregnant, she refused to stop taking very addictive medication that could have been very harmful to the unborn baby. She decided the medication was more important than I was, slapped a restraining order against me from contacting her or her doctor, and moved in with another guy who ''promised to be a father to my son and not question her use of harmful meds''. She even agreed to name my son after him (she decided against it after I told her I would have no contact at all with my son if she did that...after they dropped the TRO). So much for the system protecting those who are defenseless.
Fortunately my son was born healthy. I have been paying support and see my son 2 days a week, no problem. I'm wondering...after all the trouble that other guy went through to try and be a father to my son, putting my son's life in jeopardy, promising to raise him, etc etc.. and as he spends more time with my son that I do, can his income be used to calculate support?? (In fact he spends more time with my son than my sons mother.) I will be going to court in August to attempt to get 50% physical custody, it looks good, but I would like to see this guy keep his promise. What do you think??

Re: child support
Only one man is responsible for supporting this child. It is you. The other man talked a good game, but it is not a contract, nor is it relevant to your child support. You provided the DNA, you are the father, you pay the support.
I have answered this question in great detail in prior responses.
