Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts
Child Support
I hired an attorney to defend me in a child support case that a Judge order me to pay rearage. My lawyer got the court to grant me another hiring to show why I should not be paying rearage. My court date is coming up and my Lawyer is asking for more money towards the retainier. I am broke. I want to cancel my contract with my lawyer and represent my self for this up coming hearing. My question is. How much of a notice do I have to give my Lawyer?
Regards,
James

Re: Child Support
You may discharge your lawyer at any time, and find a new lawyer, or represent yourself.
However, you must be careful. Any person who represents himself has a fool for a lawyer and a jackass as a client.
You should give the lawyer as much time as possible so that he can withdraw properly.
