child support

I am not able to pay for my rent due to a child garnshment. How can I get it lowered in order to avoid eviction?

Massachusetts sets child support based on the needs of the children and the total income of the parties. If the support you are paying is more than would be required under the current Guidelines, you can seek a reduction. If it is less, your Complaint for Modification COULD result in your being ordered to pay MORE. You should calculate your support using the DOR's child support calculator.

If you are not due a reduction, you are most likely going to have to find a less expensive living situation, perhaps with a compatible room-mate.

Retain an attorney to file a Complaint for Modification of the support order.
