Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Child Support Payments

Can I open a bank account (Savings) for my daughters and deposit the weekly child support payments directly in to it instead of depositing the money into their mother's bank account? or by law, do I have to give the money the their mother? we were never married.

Re: Child Support Payments

Most courts will not go for the idea, but it is a good one.

Does the unwed mother have enough money to support the children without that money?

Is the mother a spendthrift?

Is she an alcoholic, a drug abuser, a prescription drug abuser?

Why do you have the fear she will not use the c-s payments for your daughters?

Can you prove it?

Do you have documentary evidence?

Other evidence? Hard evidence?

Lots of empty pill bottles, for instance.

You have raised a good question, but that question raises many more questions.

Best of luck.
