Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

I am a US Citizen and married my husband (a Dominican Citizen) in the Dominican Republic four years ago. He now has his Green Card. We will be separated for one year in May. We have no children and no property or debt together. Can I divorce him from here in the US (MA) or do we have to go over there to do it?

If you live in Massachusetts, you can divorce him here. A court has the power to divorce people if one party to the divorce resides within the state. Massachusetts requires that you live in the state for at least one year before filing for divorce.

You can divorce him in Massachusetts if you live there and if you met the MA laws requirements as Mr. Pransky mentioned.

Or you can get divorced in Dominican Republic if: a) you and your husband are both in consent to get divorced and both are living in US; or b) if he has moved back and now is resides in the Dominican Republic.
