Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

college tuition

I have one daughter finishing her second year of college on one entering college in one year. my husband pays nothing towards tuition, books or airfare. I receive $300 per week in child support. Since my divorce, I've inherited some money so my assets are greater than his yet my income is $50,000. and his is $65,000.00. Shouldn't he be responsible for some college tuition and extras? Also, once my children are over 18 years old can I assume residence anywhere I want? Can I spend time during the year outside the country? Thank you for your help.

I suggest you contact an attorney. Your husband should be contributing to your children's college education.

Subject to seeing your separation agreement, you should be able to travel for reasonabel periods of time outside the country with your children or without them. Parental or other supervision for the 18 year old should be available.

I assume your children are full time students.

I'm not sure how long you have been divorced, but I would contact your attorney and find out what your divorce agreement says about your questions, specifically about tuition. If your husband is no longer complying with the terms of agreement you can go back to court and get him to comply (or at least try).
