Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts
compensation for debt
Myself and my fiance have been together 4 10 yrs. he never legally divorced his 1st wife. We own a prop. together in fla.Where we resided for 2 yrs before he made the decision to move us back to MA promising that it would be worth it for us to come back due to him starting his own business.Promising financial security. Now residing in MA 2gether he won 500,000.00 in the lottery and wants to leave the relationship with out contributing any funds for the prop. in fla which is in both our names. I can't afford to pay the paymnts alone and don't want to loose the prop. Is there any laws that could make him pay the debt he owes on this property?

Re: compensation for debt
Your rights are based in contract law. You should see an attorney regarding this. In the alternative, you may have to simply sell the Florida property, or rent it for money.
You should also be aware that the legal spouse may have a claim on the lottery winnings.
