Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

I have court ordered payments from my ex for his portion of marital debt. He has just filed for bankruptcy under chapter 7. will my payments (30 a week) be affected?

Hello,

Depending on how the terms are phrased/worded in the agreement, your ex-husband may be able to discharge his debt to you. Ordinarily in a Chapter 7 bankuptcy, all unsecured debts are dischargeable with the exceptiont of a few including child support and alimony (support payments).
