Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

court for taking care of father, no written contract

My step brother is taking me to small claims court for taking care of my disabled father from feb 1999 to feb. 2000. he wanted to do this to take care of my father just like my father took care of him all of his life. he did not ask for payment but he did live in this house for nothing for 3 years previous, my father paid all the bills.

I did not give him a salary but every time he needed money I would give it to him, I have checks totalling around $ 3000. I have him money out of the goodness of my heart to help him when he needed something and now he needs money, probably for drugs and he is suing me. I am so nervous for court makes me nervous, I went once before to get a restraining order put on him for he threatened to kill me. Does he have a case, I was wondering what to expect in court. I am so frightened, that he might win money from me. Thank you for your help.

Without a contract, you have no legal obligation to support your parents.
