Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

custody

I am a 17 year old girl, my parents have been devorced since i was 4. i lived with my mom up untill i was 14 when i left to live with my dad because my mom has an alcohol abuse problem. she is now recovering and attending AA. i want to go back and live with her because my father has a temper that i fear and is not allowing me to make money for collage. Will the court question it or will they just let me go live with her?

Re: custody

If your father has no objection, the court should not have one but they (your parents) will have to file an agreement as to physical custody. However, if your father objects you will need to have Court approval.

As to college, if you are accepted as a full time student, you can ask the court to compell your parents to assist you in paying for college.

It would be in your father and mother's interest to let you earn money for college as long as the job is safe and makes sense.

You have not stated what your mother wishes and what she has or intends to do.

Only with the answers to these can one think of an answer.
