Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

my daughter is divorced with 2 children 7/8 and is disabled because of mental handicaps. She lives in squalor and although efforts to help her end with her refusing to speak with family members (hanging up etc) dss has been called a few times.

Shae has now decided to marry a man who is emotionally abusive. My real fear is for my grandkids.

Can I applyfor a guardianship so she will have to seek medical treatment and dss will look at this situation Thank you

You can seek custody of your grandchildren if you can demonstrate she is not able to properly care for them.

If you seek guardianship of your daughter and she is married; you are not likely to win absent some horrific issues. The cost of getting a guardianship will be very expensive.

You would probably be better off seeking custody of the grandchildren if dss will support it.

I do not handle this type of case but I strongly suggest you contact an attorney who regularly does custody cases.
