Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Can a defendent in a Motion for Contempt hearing file a continuance to delay prosecution ? As the plaintiff, do I have to accept his request ? I filed 11 seperate charges against my EX within 60 days of signing the divorce agreement and he has been doing everything to block going before the judge.
