Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Divorce - Bonus

How are bonuses handled in a divorce case? My spouse makes net $178,000 and approx $30/yr as a bonus. My divorce settlement states that all money assets are half mine. The settlement does not specifically state that I receive a percentage of the bonus. I have been home raising my 4 children for the past 15 years and have no income from an outside job.

This is a question you should be asking your divorce attorney. If you do not have one or can not discuss this you should retain an attorney as a bonus should be considered part of annual income for distribution purposes.

You should contact your divorce attorney and ask him. If you do not have one or want a new one, then contact another attorney. Based on your simple description, the bonus should be included as part of his annual income.
