divorce and kids

I am wondering if it is a possibility that in a divorce ane parent has a friend that has been incarcerated for 11 years if the courts can and will demand that the kids stay away from this person this person did not commit any sort of sexual crime or murder it was all drug and alcohol related robberies, i am worried that my husband is going to use this against me and try for the kids

Yes. Any association by one parent with some one of questionable character can be a source of concern for the other parent. I think this is a common protective reaction. Questionable character is not limited to assaultive or sexual types of convictions. Having said this, sometime this can be addressed, if you promise that this person is not around when the kids are. Your husband may seek some assurance or limits that would protect his child or children. Your response would be to persuade him or the court, this man, despite his criminal record, does not pose a potential risk of harm.
