Re: need divorce lawyer

You can call the state bar referral service, the Middlesex County Bar referral service, both of which should be in your telephone book under lawyer referral. Inexpensive in the context you're describing is not going to be easy. Tell the person who answers that you have a real adversarial relationship with your wife. You may want a woman lawyer.

Guardian ad litems are all different, and I have no experience with GALs in Middlesex. Some are fair and some are biased, and a few are just strange. The judges usually accord great weight to their reports and recommendations, but your lawyer can cross-examine the GAL if the report is not fair to you.

Since you don't say how old your daughter is, I can't really say whether your ex has an advantage. Obviously, the older the child, the less the gender of the custodial parent matters. It also depends on whether you have renarried or have female relatives that can help deal with teenage or other girl issues.
