Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Is it possible to divorce a sibling??

I have an untenable family situation which puts me in the position of wishing to be legally ''divorced'' from my three siblings. I live in Massachusetts and they live in Maine and Delaware.

Is this approach possible and what would it take to make it happen?

If you are an adult, you may simply cut your ties by insisting that the siblings not contact you. A letter, preferably via certified mail, is sufficient. If the siblings remained insistent after, you would then have the right to seek injunctive relief in the appropriate courts.

If you are under 18, your parents and the appropriate family courts may have something to say. As a practical matter, however, courts will not attempt to require children in a "reasoning" age (about 14 on) to associate with individuals, because such orders are difficult to enforce.
