Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

My elderly mother can no longer live alone as she is legally blind and a fall risk. She fell last week and was hospitalized. She wants to sell her home (still has a mortgage) and move in with me. My nephew, her grandson has lived with her since returning from England last Dec. He is against us selling the home as he has been living there free (he works). He informed me today that if we go thru with it, he will not only claim adverse squatters rights, but will call the Elder Abuse hotline and report me because of my husbands past mental health. My husband had an issue 6 years ago, but has gotten help thru the VA and lives a normal life. My husband has always been very welcoming to him. My nephew told me that my home isn't safe for her and will not allow her to "live with a psycho". I just want my mother safe and living a peaceful life with no financial stress.

Your nephew can't claim squatter's rights as there is no such thing. He may be considered a tenant and have to be evicted. Maybe you should call the elder abuse hotline and have them investigate. It could result in a number of solutions, but it doesn't sound like she will remain in her home without more help. It doesn't sound like your husband is a problem.
