Re: emancapation
Once a child reaches the age of 18, they are legal adults.
I am not sure what you want to know. Can you throw your child out of your home? yes, but unless there is an overwhelming reason to do so, don't.
Are you required to put them through college? No.
Are you responsible for their bills once they reach 18, generally no, except as they may relate to your medical insurance and certain other things.
Re: emancapation
As Jonathan said, once your child reaches the age of majority (18), you are no longer (generally) responsible for their actions or their welfare.
Jonathan also mentioned a few exceptions, to which I would like to add child support. If you are paying child support or health care premiums, these payments may continue so long as your child is enrolled in an undergraduate program, or until 21, whichever happens first.
