Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts
family law
i recently split with my fiance because he cheated on me with a friend.we went to court and we got joint legal custody but it is causing problems which i havent heard of this before with my divorce a few yrs agoi was told because we have joint legal custody we are equalas far as making decesions goes with my son i cant see how this is true when he doesnt see him but for 5 hrs a wk and doesnt know what he is even doing but now he wants to fight me as far as his schooling and nothing is getting done. but i was told that because we werent married he really doesnt have the rights to legal custody and i dont think its fair that the school thinks he can just come in and change everything that i have set up for my sons education .also his new girlfriend has severe mental problems and i dont want her near my son she isnt allowed near him now but i want the court order to be permanent .how can i get that done .he wont claim his address as her house becase she is on housing and foodstamps and if he is there she will loose it so he lives at his moms house at least on paper and i dont want to chase him anymore.and it pisses me off too i struggle to give him the best i can he makes 20,000 more than ido a year and there eating on foodstamps.bs

Re: family law
You need to get into court if there are visitation issues.
If there is a tug-of-war on education matters actually happening, you should bring the issue to the Court for review.
Shared legal custody does not allow the non-custodial parent to micro-manage, nor to make decisions without consulting you.
Re: family law
This involves major decisions, not day to day one. Custody depends on many factors, and this sounds like it is heading for a war?
