Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Father's roommate and visitation

My husband and I are separated without any legal agreements. We are trying to mediate our divorce settlement. My husband moved out on his own and subsequently took on a roommate. He is not paying me child support based on this or any other extra income, but more importantly, he has not given me opportunity to MEET this person with whom my children have spent several overnights (with their father.) I believe I have every right not only to meet this person but to APPROVE. In fact, according to what I've learned, it's my responsibility. He maintains I have no right to keep my children from staying at his home if I don't approve of his roommate. Am I right? Thank you.

Re: Father's roommate and visitation

What if you were to find a roommate? Would you

seek your husband's approval of YOUR roommate?

I think the better position once you're divorced is to let each other live as if you had never been married.

It hurts, but it will pass. Just give it time.

Don't do anything to give yourselves any more

pain. Consider the children. Make the

transition as easy as possible for them.
