When a fifteen year old has a child is the fifteen year old now somehow emancipated from his parents or are the parents still legally responsible for him until he is eighteen?

No. The 15-year-old is not automatically emancipated. His parents must still support him, unless a court determines otherwise. To fail to do so is neglect.

The new grandparents are not, however, required to pay father's child support for him.
