Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

I have a friend who is with this girl who has purposely tried ruining his life little by little. She tries to manipulate him and tries making things up to get what she wants. They have two kids together with another on the way. He had to Co-sign an auto loan with her a while ago so they had a family SUV, but she typically makes him come up with a lot of the money since she likes to spend elsewhere (she is the primary on the loan). He wants to leave her but is afraid for the kids, paying an attorney, and losing all he has. Is it possible for this to turn around in his favor? What steps should he take? Thank you.

Because the parties are not married, there are few rules governing your friend's relationship other than those rules relative to child custody, visitation, and support. Both parties should retain counsel and see if the parties can work through a non-marital dissolution and can come to some agreement or agreements on how to move forward. Our office can assist, if you would like to set up a consultation.

I would suggest that your friend at least speak with an Attorney as to his options and obligations before he does anything-planning is always best before taking action. You can contact my office anytime.

This would be a custody, support, and visitation case. These issues are very fact-specific, so he should immediately seek a consultation.
