Annulments are rarely granted by the courts and should only be sought when the facts clearly show that the marriage is invalid. There are a list of factors which if satisfied would make the marriage "void" or "voidable", however again this is very rare.

In most cases, short term marriages can end quickly through an Uncontested Divorce, which in Massachusette is referred to as a 1A Divorce where a joint petition is filed along with a Separation Agreement and a final divorce judgment is entered by the judge..

Retain an attorney to discuss whether your marriage can be annulled or whether the option of a divorce is a more likely option. Good Luck!

I agree with the first answer that annulment is only available in a limited set of circumstances - essentially where the facts warrant a finding that the marriage was void from the beginning. You may want to retain an attorney to file uncontested divorce paperwork on your behalf. Our office charges a flat fee for uncontested divorce proceedings. 617-357-4898. Best of luck to you!

Not working is not grounds for annulment. You can file for a joint petition for divorce.
