Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

My grand parents died - The family (2 Aunts) sold the house.My mom died before the house was sold.My Aunts split the money 3 ways - my dad got my mothers money. I was told my brother and I should of got the money because we are blood ? Please advise.

I am sorry for your loss of your Mother and your grandparents. The answer to your question depends on whether any of them had a Will or Trust which documents would have to be reviewed by an attorney to determine who had rights to inherit the proceeds from the sale of the property. If there were no such documents and no probate of the estates of your grandparents or your Mother, laws of intestate succession might provide that your deceased Mother's share of

the proceeds be divided 50% to your Father and 50% to her surviving children.

Retain an attorney to review this before unnecessarily causing family turmoil.
