Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

home inspection

I am divorced, so is my boyfriend. We have been together for 2 years. He just moved in, and now, his ex wife has demanded an inspection of MY home and to meet me. She claims its because she wants to see where her children are when they are with thier father. In short I have been nothing but a positive influence in the childrens lives and I know she is aware of that. I think she just wants to see what I have.Does she have a legal right to come to my home and as far as I am concerned, meddle???

Re: home inspection

The former spouse has no right to inspect your home. if she feels that the living arrangement is not in the best interest of the children, she can file a motion to modify the judgment or she can seek to obtain custody.

Re: home inspection

There are legal rights and other rights. Mr. Dempsey is correct about the legal rights.

You may, under some circumstances, allow the ex to visit, if you can be sure that it will save you some aggravation in the future allow for such a visit.

You can also demand the same option from your ex.
