Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

My husband is an ex convict and threatened me to not file for divorce. Would he lose out in the divorce and thats why he's threatening me?

He would still be entitled to an equitable division of property. However, it would be difficult for him to get representation from prison.

He may also be concerned as to how a divorce could impact his chances of parole, since he would not necessarily have a place to go if paroled.

He may also be concerned about losing any say about your children if you have any if you get a divorce while he is in prison.

If there are no children then ask him why he objects to the divorce, If there are no real assets in the marriage, then there is even less reason to object unless he is concerned about parole.

Good Luck

I would agree-he is most likely concerned as to parole.
