Husband left 3+ wk
My 75 yr old husband left our home telling me for 3 wk ''vacation'' for hisself to far away outof state and running up big bills on our jt credit cards for hotels, food, etc - now tells me goingto rent $700/month condo as place to stay for 1 to 2 months. Not sure if he will blow all our 30yr marriage savings acct/assets or when/if he will come home. I don't want to get a divorce at my age now. I dont approve of any this.
We have little money to show for 30 yrs except our one simple paid off home and some savings in jt. bank acct. He got a parttime job for min wage to keep busy - but afraid his ''vacation'' could be endless spending blowing our life savings down drain til we have no money left until he demands to sell off our home. He not telling me all what going on.
What rights do I have as wife in Mass.? Is this abandonment?
Can I legally separate from him or his crazy spending & bills coming in due now ? Can I easily get my name off the joint credit cards he using while away ? What can I do ? If husband walks out of house and gone overnite or longer does he give up right to home or even to come back in - if I dont want him to?

You need to file a court action which will limit this. There are two possibilities:
1. A guardianship, if he can be determined to be incompetent; or
2. A complaint for separate support.
The latter will be easier to file and get moving on. You can use the action as a platform to freeze his access to funds.
