Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts
My husband owns a business. He has owned for about 6 years. He is thinking about selling the business. Do I have any rights to the profits of this sell. We are both in our fifties and have been married for 37 years it will be 38 in December. Thank you so much for your help. He also has a retirement from the job he had for 35 years.

Technically it is a family business;
Legally it is under his name.
If you have not filed for divorce, the arrangement about this is informal.

Are you planning on divorcing? If not, then you and your husband are free to work out any arrangement that works for the two of you. I think more information is needed here. You may want to schedule a meeting with an attorney.
The business is his, but it is a family asset for divorce purposes. Absent a divorce action, you have no clear rights to the proceeds from the business.
