Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

My husband of 34yrs decided he no longer wants to be married...we have no children and own our home. He saw a lawyer 2 days ago...if I move out before the sale of the home or the divorce papers are submitted will it be considered abandonment of property on my part and I lose my share? This has been a shock for me and I haven't hired legal counsel yet.

Just because you move out of the home does not mean you have abandoned the rights to the property. However, I suggest that you immeditately consult with an attorney.

If you are interested in a free consultation contact me at 617-523-3200.

Thank you,

I agree with attorney Urukalo.

You should probably speak with an attorney before you decide to move out of the state. Moving out of the state will not affect your legal rights to property in anyway.

Please feel free to contact my office if you would like to discuss your options. 617-357-4898.

Moving out of the home should not impact your rights, but I would contact an attorney before doing so.

Please feel free to contact me.

The sooner you retain an attorney to represent and advise you, the better for you. Good Luck!
