Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts
Hi I am interested to know if anyone can answer this. I met my sons father in America when he was separated from his wife and going through a divorce. I ended up having a son and moved back to the UK. he reconciled with his ex and went on to have children. He made contact through a third party with me and said he wanted to pay for my son.So i set up paternity test, he took 2.5 years to turn up for it but it came through as his son so we established a court order. I started receiving angry abusive calls from his wife threatening me. Eventually she stopped and now 8 years have passed.I recently contacted him and said not to waste years not getting in touch if he wanted a relationship with his son. He replied that he did and he really wanted to be there for him and would work something out. Then 2 weeks later I have now received a VERY threatening email from his wife. Threatening my son, and telling us evil things and what a mistake he is and if he ever looks for his father he will be told lies and turned away broken hearted. I just wondered legally has the father of my son any rights at all to speak to his son. I am quite happy for him too , but his wife has told him he is not allowed.

As you and your son are located in the UK, this is matter that is under the jurisdiction of your local courts. However, in the absence of any court orders and your willingmees to have your son meet his father, there is no reason, other than his wife, why this should not occur.
It is like a good cop bad cop routine.
