Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts
Do I need a New Lawyer
My attorney seems to be acting like she is on my spouse's side. She says I will have to pay half the taxes to the IRS, even though we can show it was the direct result if his failure to withhold sufficient amounts. He has spent over 100K in marital assets, and she says we cannot prove it wasn't justified so we cannot expect the court weigh it against his share of the assets. We re-financed the house twice so he could pay his credit card bills, but she says this was ''acceptable and normal'' and he doesn't even have to show how this benefited the household. Is all this stuff true? If we don't settle to my advantage I will have next to nothing. What do I do?

Trust in one's lawyer is critical.
If you feel that the trust is so damaged that you are unable to rely on your attorney, then it is time to say goodbye.
While it is not clear why your attorney has given you these opinions, another analysis to confirm or disconfirm them is in your interest, especially given the amount of money at issue.
You should do this as soon as possible. You can reach me in my office this afternoon, if you wish such a second opinion, at 978.749.3606.
