Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts
Do I need a Lawyer?
I had a baby out of wedlock and we will soon be going to court for child support. Me and the Father get along perfectly fine. Since it has nothing to do with divorce do I really need a lawyer?

Re: Do I need a Lawyer?
The issue is paternity and child support. Without more information, I have to assume there could be more issues.
For instance, how old are you? the father?
Does he work? Do you work? How much does he earn?
How much do you earn? is anyone raising custody issues? Are there grandparent issues?
I think it would be at least adviseable to speak to an attorney and determine what issues may be raised here.
For instance, does the father admit paternity? Is he willing to pay child support?
Does he want visitation rights?
Good Luck

As with any legal matter, you would be better served to be represented by an attorney to insure your receive the support and benefits both you and your child deserve. Good Luck!
